OK here is my problem. Just got my first Z about a month ago and I was the happiest kid ever. Naturally, being 16 and into rock music I turned the volume up, did I ever get a suprise!! I heard a sound that no one ever wants to hear a mix between a rattle and a boom, and it was in perfect rythym with the bass of the song. So when I get home I pop off the cover of my left rear speaker to find it completely blown. Out of curiosity I popped off the other cover to find no speaker at all!!! I have an aftermarket CD player, it's a Pioneer DEH P4300 Super Tuner, of course then I checked out all the settings on the player to realize that the bass was really low, probably set that way by the previous owner so I wouldn't notice the absence of bass. So a few days later I traverse to a local car audio shop called Mobile Audio. I told them my problem and they said they could fix it however, to replace the rear speakers they would have to make new mounts because I wanted to get some 6 inch Boston Acoustic speakers. They quoted the entire job including replacement of the front speakers as well at about $350-$400. I left. After doing some research I found some much better speakers at a fraction of the price online. I talked to a guy I work with and he said he could help me to put in the new speakers, but I should try and get new mounts put in so that we could put 6 1/2 inch speakers in all around. The speakers i was looking at for the back were Pioneer TS-A4670R, they are 4x6 3 way speakers. for the front I wanted to use Pioneer TS-A1680R, they are 6 1/2 4 way speakers. According to Crutchfield.com these will fit with the current mounts. Just so you know I do in fact have the stock Bose speakers with the stock Bose speaker mounts. My question is this: is it possible to use the stock mounts with these speakers, how hard would it be to put in new mounts so that I could put the speakers that I want to put in the front in the back also, they are better than the ones that i can put in the back now. Also, are the speakers that I have menioned good? I really have no experience with car audio and I am considering getting subwoofers down the road, so any input on that topic would be appreciated. Basically what I need to know is what is the deal with the Bose mounts and what kind of speakers can go in there with what modifications/new mounts. This is a long post I know and I am sorry, but I didn't know where else to go and this site has helped me out a lot int he past. Thanks. Jordan
